Stelfox is proud to present 'Ann-Sofie Brandt' to head up our Health Economics business

As part of Stelfox's committment to delivery a quality driven recruitment service we are pleased to introduce Ann-Sofie Brandt.

Ann-Sofie has recently joined Stelfox from Novo Nordisk. Ann-Sofie has also worked with Astra Zeneca and i3 Innovus in the past all in the field of Health Economics and Outcomes Research. I feel this key appointment allows Stelfox to further enhance it's competitive edge in the industry.

All Stelfox consultants are experts in their own individiual niche. Now we can further improve the service offered by Stelfox in the field of Health Economics.

Ann-Sofie is recruiting people in the areas of Health Economics, Market Access, Pricing & Reimbursment & Outcomes Research. With her level of contacts in the Europe and further afield she is able to match employers and industry professionals.

Stelfox is proud to announce the launch of GreenSearch

Things have been fairly quiet on the blog front of late. The reason for this is we have been busy launching our new recrutment brand.

GreenSearch has now been launched in both the UK and Ireland. GreenSearch is our new wing specialising in the 'Green' sector.

We feel it will complement our existing Pharmaceutical business and further expand the Stelfox group.

Pfizer cuddling up to Ranbaxy

Over the last week or two news stories have caught my eye. Pharmexec Europe ran a story last week that Pfizer were looking at putting a bid in for Ranbaxy. tinyurl.com/4b2ehc

I think that Ranbaxy are one of the prime examples of the growth in recent years of the generics market in recent years.

The next story which caught my eye in the same publication concerns a deal reached between Ranbaxy and Pfizer to market a generic version of Lipitor. tinyurl.com/3mclt5

Is the Pfizer interest in Ranbaxy in a more advanced state than is public? The agreement is beneficial to both parties however it is surely more beneficial if Ranbaxy were to be part held by Pfizer?

Top 50 Pharma Companies

Each year I look forward to the PharmExec report on the world’s Top 50 Pharma companies. I always have my own thoughts on who has done well.  Now the dust has settled I thought I would share my own thoughts with you over the movers and shakers.

No surprise to see that Pfizer are still in #1 spot with global sales of $45.1billion. (down 1.5% on the previous year) What I find particularly interesting though is that the big 3 of Pfizer, GSK and Sanofi-Aventis took a hit on sales however further down the table we have some very strong double digit growth from the likes of Roche (up 20.3%), Bayer (up 51.9% - well done but most of that has come from the merger with Schering), Genentech (up 23.6%) and Teva (up 20.3% - surely a sign of the growth in the generics sector)

My own personal well done though has to go to Novo Nordisk who have barged their way into the Top 20 with growth of 19.6% and sales of $6.85billion. Looking at pipelines I like the look of Liraglutide which based on early result in their Phase III studies looks like it will provide a strong revenue stream.

Overall despite the weakened US$ distorting figures slightly I think we can all look back at 2007 as a pretty decent year for the industry.

Emergence of Multiple Drugs Will Drive the Alzheimer's Disease Drug Market to Nearly Triple by 2017

With Patents of many Blockbuster drugs expiring over the next few years many companies are looking for the next big revenue stream.

Is Alzheimer's going to be one of the big growth areas of the next few years? Surely with lifespans increasing globally the incidences of conditions such as Alzheimer's will only increase. Certainly in the western world people are living longer and with more disposable income they want to insure they maintain quality of life. I personally can see this being a big growth area along with other geriatric conditions.
